Dear Friend,
I hope you and your family had a blessed week. Here is a summary of what we did in the U.S. House of Representatives this week. Watch this week's legislative update here.
Voting Against The Uniparty's Foreign Aid Supplemental
The biggest thing that happened this week is the vote on the foreign aid supplementals. The way this was brought up is we voted on four separate bills that will be merged into one after the fact and sent to the Senate. This is a gimmick used in Washington, DC. I don’t like it. I support single subject bills.
There were four separate bills for foreign aid spending. Nothing for the border. This does nothing for the border. The four components are the “Indo-Pacific” (Taiwan), Ukraine, Israel, and the 21st Century Peace Through Strength Act of 2024, which included sanctions on Iran and Russia, the Tik Tok ban, and other items. Let’s dive in.
First of all, Ukraine. I support Ukraine. I want to support the people of Ukraine. I oppose Vladimir Putin. In this bill, we’re not just paying for munitions. We’re paying for government operating costs, pensions, and border security for Ukraine. America has spent $113 Billion on Ukraine, with no accountability, no mission statement, and no end game plan from President Biden. Now we want to spend an additional $60 Billion? How about the rest of Europe step up? American is at $35 trillion in debt. We cannot continue spending money we do not have.
Second, Taiwan. Taiwan has already paid for their weapons; we just can’t deliver them because we’re giving so much away to other countries. This was hooked onto the Ukraine bill to draw people to vote for the Ukraine bill who support Taiwan against Chinese aggression.
Finally, the Israel bill. No one has been stronger in support of Israel their entire life than me. However, I can’t support an aid bill for Israel that gives $9 Billion to Hamas terrorists. I cannot in good faith support aiding Israel’s enemies while also aiding in their war effort. That’s like beating somebody up just so you can pay for their hospital bill. Those who voted for this bill can't criticize President Biden for being on both sides of the war and then vote to fund both sides of the war.
