Rep. Perry to Newsmax: Mast Will Shift Foreign Affairs Panel

Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., told Newsmax on Tuesday that the Foreign Affairs Committee will undergo a "dramatic shift" toward President-elect Donald Trump's policies under the incoming leadership of Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla. Mast was selected by the House GOP Steering Committee to chair foreign affairs in the next Congress and will replace Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, who's term limited out of the position. "First of all, congratulations to Brian Mast. Well earned, well deserved," Perry, a member of the committee, said on "National Report." "I think you're going to see a dramatic shift towards a more pro-Trump policy out of the Foreign Affairs Committee, which has heretofore always worked primarily towards bipartisanship. "And bipartisanship is fine as long as you're doing the right thing but not doing, being bipartisan for the sake of being bipartisan. So it's time for the left to come along and be for America now. And I think Brian Mast is going to represent that as chairman of the committee."
Mast, an Army veteran whose honors include a Purple Heart, has served in the House since 2017. His nomination will have to be ratified by the full conference. |
