Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Scott Perry (PA-10) was appointed by Speaker Mike Johnson to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI).
“My great thanks to Speaker Johnson for selecting me to sit on the House Intelligence Committee,” said Rep. Scott Perry. “I’m humbled by his confidence in me, my service to our Nation, and my experience in this arena. I look forward to providing not only a fresh perspective, but conducting actual oversight - not blind obedience to some facets of our Intel Community that all too often abuse their powers, resources, and authority to spy on the American People.”
HPSCI was established in 1977 as the primary committee in the U.S. House of Representatives that provides oversight of the Nation’s intelligence community, while sharing jurisdiction with other committees like the House Armed Services Committee for some matters concerning the Department of Defense and/or various military branches.
Congressman Perry currently serves on three committees: Transportation and Infrastructure, of which he’s Chairman of the Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management, and a member of the Subcommittee on Aviation; Oversight and Accountability; and Foreign Affairs, on which he serves on the Subcommittee on Oversight & Accountability.
Congressman Perry’s military service combined with his membership on the Foreign Affairs and Oversight Committees gives him an informed and unique perspective on the issues facing the House Intelligence Committee.
