Congressman Perry to Hold First Town Meeting

YORK, PA – To give his constituents the opportunity to share their concerns regarding issues before the United States Congress and the federal government, Congressman Scott Perry will be hosting his first town meeting as Congressman of Pennsylvania’s 4th Congressional District.  The meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 25th at the Fairview Township Fire Department, 340 Lewisberry Road, New Cumberland, Pennsylvania.

Congressman Perry will update constituents on the issues currently before Congress, including the sequester, the federal budget, job creation and tax policy.  Congressman Perry will then take questions from the audience on those and other federal issues.

“The sequester originally proposed by President Obama could cost tens of thousands of jobs throughout Pennsylvania and have devastating impacts on our economy.  The U.S. House of Representatives has voted twice to replace the sequester with common-sense spending reforms that don’t threaten public safety, national security or our economy. It is difficult to come to an agreement when neither President Obama nor the Democrats who run the Senate have offered a specific plan to replace the President’s sequester,” said Congressman Perry.

“President Obama has given speeches blaming Republicans and calling for higher taxes – but has failed to lead. Rather than enacting another tax increase just two months after President Obama signed a $650 billion tax increase into law, Washington must take action to save and strengthen Social Security and Medicare, while protecting young people and children by getting government spending under control.

I’m willing to work with anyone to help end America’s trillion-dollar deficits, but all sides must come forward with credible proposals to help the economy and address the crushing debt burden we’re mounting for ourselves and for future generations.”

This is the first of many town hall and telephone town hall meetings that Congressman Perry will conduct this year.  Residents who are unable to attend this meeting are welcomed to contact Congressman Perry and his staff at any of his offices, or via Perry.House.Gov, where they can sign up for e-mail updates and for his new Facebook, Twitter and You Tube pages.
