Rep. Perry Statement on Passage of Require a PLAN Act

Washington, DC— Rep. Scott Perry issued the following statement after the House passed the “Require a PLAN Act”:

“During these difficult economic times, every hard-working American family knows what it’s like to live on a budget.  Working families often have to make difficult decisions to live within their means. Washington should have to do the same.”

“Every year Washington spends over a $1 trillion more than it takes in. The Senate hasn’t passed a budget in 4 years and for the fourth time in five years; President Barack Obama has failed to submit a budget on time. We can no longer afford to kick the can down the road.”

“Today, the House passed the “Require a PLAN Act” which demands that the President explain to all Americans how he plans to balance the budget. A balanced budget is important to seniors who depend on the benefits they’ve earned and to our children who can’t afford the crushing debt we are saddling them with.”

“I’m committed to balancing the budget and will work with anyone, regardless of party affiliation, who is serious about getting America’s fiscal house in order.”
