Dear Friend,
I hope you had a blessed Easter with family and friends. Here is a summary of what we did in the U.S. House of Representatives this week. Watch this week's legislative update here.
Voting Against Unconstitutional Spying on Americans through FISA

This week, the House Intelligence Committee’s “Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act” passed on the floor. This bill does not reform FISA, rather it expands the surveillance state by preventing any reforms for two years, failing to require a warrant to spy on U.S. citizens, and allowing the government to buy third party data to evade the Fourth Amendment.
I spoke on the Houser Floor in opposition to the bill because every Member of Congress took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution - which includes the Fourth Amendment. In it the Founding Fathers wrote that: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated...” I could not in good conscience vote for a bill that allows the FBI and Intelligence Agencies to continue to illegally spy on Americans without a warrant.
