U.S. Rep. Perry Announces Congressional Art Competition
Washington,
March 6, 2019
Harrisburg, PA – Congressman Scott Perry is pleased to invite all high school students from Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District to participate in the 2019 Congressional Art Competition. Initiated by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982, the event is a nationwide, annual art competition that allows high school students from all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories to showcase their artistic ability.
The winning piece of art from each Congressional district is displayed in a year-long exhibit in the Cannon Tunnel that leads into the U.S. Capitol. The winning artist also will receive a $3,000 renewable admission scholarship to Savannah College of Art and Design or Tennessee Wesleyan College. Additionally, the winner and a guest will be invited to attend a reception in Washington D.C., where they'll be escorted on a tour of the U.S. Capitol. Judging is performed by members of the local art community. While the official guidelines require that each piece of artwork be framed, the 10th Congressional District’s competition requires that only the winning entry be framed. Submissions will be accepted in Congressman Perry’s Dauphin County (Harrisburg) District office or Cumberland County (Wormleysburg) District offices through Friday, April 26, 2019. Further information about the program, including guidelines and student release forms that are required in order to participate in the 2019 competition can be found on Congressman Perry’s website: https://perry.house.gov/how-can-scott-help/arts-competition.htm. Interested applicants also may direct any questions to Donna Austin at (717) 635-9504. Residents of the 10th District are welcome to contact Congressman Perry and his staff at any of the offices or via Perry.House.gov, where you can sign up for e-mail updates and for his Facebook, Twitter and YouTube page. |
