Perry Announces Committee Assignments for the 116th Congress

Washington, D.C. – Scott Perry announced his 116th Congressional Session Committee assignments: Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and House Foreign Affairs Committee.

“In getting back to work for the people of Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District, both Committees provide great opportunities to improve our communities and Nation,” said Perry.

The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has jurisdiction over all modes of transportation: aviation, maritime and waterborne transportation, roads, bridges, mass transit, and railroads. It also has jurisdiction over other aspects of our national infrastructure, such as clean water and waste water management, the transport of resources by pipeline, flood damage reduction, the economic development of depressed rural and urban areas, disaster preparedness and response, activities of the Army Corps of Engineers and the various missions of the Coast Guard. This jurisdiction provides a comprehensive view of how communities across the United States are connected to one another, how infrastructure affects the growth and flow of commerce at home and abroad, and how an effective government can improve the lives of our citizens.

Perry will serve on the Subcommittees on Aviation, and on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials.

“The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee provides a great opportunity to develop solutions on bipartisan basis. Since Pennsylvania has more miles of road than any other state in the Union, and our region is home to very busy transportation hubs, rail, aviation and trucking,” Perry continued.

The Committee is Chaired by Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and Ranking Member Sam Graves (R-MO).

The House Foreign Affairs Committee is responsible for oversight of legislation relating to foreign assistance, national security developments impacting foreign policy, war powers, treaties, executive agreements, deployments of US Armed Forces and many other related issues.

“The Foreign Affairs Committee is critical to ensuring our National interests are pursued and maintained around the world. I appreciate the opportunity to provide oversight and bring awareness to issues impacting International relations and the leadership of the United States.

The Foreign Affairs Committee is Chaired by Eliot Engel (D-NY) and Ranking Member Mike McCaul (R-TX).

Perry will serve on the Subcommittees on Asia and the Pacific, and Oversight and Investigations.
