Washington, D.C. - Congressman Scott Perry offered the following comment in the wake of targeted missile strikes in Syria by the United States, France and the United Kingdom:
"We have no interest in being the “world's police,” but the civilized world simply cannot allow the use of chemical weapons and weapons of mass destruction to become commonplace. Their recent use in the UK and in Syria is a stern warning of our own vulnerability and the national security threat they pose. This moment also reminds us of the division of powers and the authorization of the use of military force. I’ve offered an AUMF for several years now; this is a perfect opportunity to reevaluate our process for the use of force moving forward."
The missile strikes come in response to a chemical weapons attack on civilians in Syria.
