Rep. Scott Perry Statement on January Unemployment Report

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today’s unemployment report for January indicates an economy that still is struggling. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the national unemployment rate increased to 7.9% in January.

“Apparently, job creators still are concerned about the deep fiscal problems facing America.  Today’s unemployment report coupled with the recent news that GDP was negative in the 4th quarter shows that we must chart a different course,” said Rep. Scott Perry. “Unfortunately, yesterday the President decided to eliminate his jobs council. We need to send a strong signal to all Americans that Washington has a permanent solution to fix its reckless spending binge. We also need to renew our commitment to get Washington out of the way so that we can get our economy growing again.”
