Rep. Perry Announces Committee Assignments for 115th Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Scott Perry (PA-4) is proud to announce his committee assignments for the 115th Congress.  He will continue to serve on the Foreign Affairs, Homeland Security and Transportation and Infrastructure committees.

“These assignments are a tremendous opportunity for me to serve the people of the 4th Congressional District,” said Rep. Perry. “Whether ensuring that Pennsylvania and our region have the necessary transportation funding to help improve safety and promote economic growth, better protecting ourselves and our homeland against terrorism, or promoting a robust and sensible foreign policy, these committee assignments will help me to be a strong advocate for the people that I serve.”

Each of Congressman Perry’s committees has outlined aggressive agendas for the 115th Congress. The Foreign Affairs Committee, chaired by Congressman Ed Royce (R-CA), is prepared to get to work with the new Administration to revitalize American diplomacy and make America safer. The Homeland Security Committee, chaired by Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX), has identified four major threats facing our country: international and domestic terrorism; cyber attacks; unsecured borders; and poor management practices at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, chaired by neighboring Pennsylvania Congressman Bill Shuster, will work closely with the incoming Administration to advance policies designed to build a 21st Century American infrastructure.

On the Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Perry will serve on the Terrorism, Nonproliferation and Trade and the Asia and the Pacific subcommittees. For the Homeland Security Committee, he will serve on the Counterterrorism and Intelligence and the Oversight and Management Efficiency subcommittees. Within the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, he has been assigned to the Aviation, Highways and Transit, and the Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Material subcommittees.

In addition, Congressman Perry will continue in his role as the Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Oversight and Management Efficiency, which oversees DHS’s day-to-day operations to ensure that it is operating in the most efficient and effective manner possible. The subcommittee works to identify potential opportunities to eliminate duplicative or unnecessary programs, find efficiencies to contribute to DHS’s ability to meet its vital missions, and identify areas for cost savings. The subcommittee also conducts rigorous oversight to ensure departmental regulations enhance security without posing an unnecessary barrier to private sector job creation. In the 114th Congress, the subcommittee was extremely active, holding hearings to expose waste in DHS, examine the impacts of closing the detention facilities at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba, and to identify the threat of radical Islamist terrorism.

"I’m privileged to continue this responsibility to help strengthen DHS’s core mission of protecting our homeland,” said Rep. Perry.  “As part of its oversight of DHS, this subcommittee makes security and fiscal accountability to the American people our top priority.”
