Rep. Perry Statement on Anti-Israel UN Resolution

York, PA—Representative Scott Perry (R-PA) issued the following statement after Friday’s UN Security Council vote on an anti-Israel resolution and today’s explanation from Secretary of State John Kerry on the decision for the US to abstain from the vote:

“The United States for years – regardless of what political party occupied the White House – rightly has opposed one-sided or anti-Israel resolutions at the United Nations. Not only does President Obama’s refusal to veto this resolution defy decades of bipartisan US policy, but he’s allowing the UN to serve as an open forum to isolate and delegitimize Israel – our closest and only democratic Ally in one of the world’s most unstable regions,” said Congressman Perry. “Likewise, his decision to allow Secretary Kerry to lay out a framework for an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal, knowing that he’s out of office in less than a month and no longer in a position to negotiate any long-term deals, is insulting and serves no purpose except exposing Israel to unnecessary international pressure. It’s mind-boggling to me that a false equivalence is being perpetuated in the UN between terrorist acts funded by the Palestinian Authority and Israeli settlement building.”
