Chairman Scott Perry to Convene Hearing to Examine Local Impacts of Obama Administration’s Plan to Close GTMO

Washington, D.C. – Thursday at 10AM, Homeland Security Oversight and Management Efficiency Subcommittee Chairman Scott Perry (R-PA) will convene a hearing entitled “Transferring Guantanamo Bay Detainees to the Homeland: Implications for States and Local Communities.”  Live webcast and witness testimony will be available HERE.

WHERE:
311 Cannon House Office Building

WHEN:  Thursday, April 28, 2015 at 10:00AM

WHO:  Homeland Security Oversight and Management Efficiency Subcommittee Chairman Scott Perry

WHAT: Subcommittee Hearing on Transferring GTMO Detainees to the United States

“Over 30 percent of Guantanamo detainees released to date have returned to the battlefield to possibly kill more Americans. The American people rightfully do not want these terrorists transferred to the homeland plain and simple.  However, President Obama is determined to fulfill a campaign promise and close the Guantanamo Bay detention facility. In doing so, he is ignoring law enforcement and first responders who think this is a dangerous plan. Our hearing will give Members a chance to hear concerns of state and local officials on the potential impact of transferring these hardened terrorists into the backyards of the communities they have sworn to protect.”
