Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Scott Perry (PA-10) called for real policy changes and decreased federal spending upon the passage of the fourth Continuing Resolution (CR) for FY24 (H.R. 7643). The week-long CR forces the House of Representatives to conduct two more CR votes by March 22, but most importantly, fails to address President Biden’s failed border policies. Rep. Perry voted against the latest CR.

“Not standing up for America today so you can surrender tomorrow doesn’t advance America’s goals,” said Representative Perry. “We’re five months into this fiscal year, and we’re still passing funding bandages without policy changes or limits to federal spending.”

The CR extends the March 1 and March 8 funding deadlines to March 8 and March 22, 2024 – just one week after four of the funding bills will expire. It delays the funding deadline for some government services, i.e., agriculture, energy and water development, military construction, Veterans affairs, transportation, and urban development. Passing H.R. 7643 requires two more votes on FY24 spending.

In January, House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader Schumer reached a topline agreement of $1.59 trillion in spending, with an additional $69 billion in undisclosed “side deals” before any emergency spending, which brings FY24 federal spending to at least $1.68 trillion.
