Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representatives Scott Perry (PA-10), Andy Biggs (AZ-05), Andrew Clyde (GA-09), Eli Crane (AZ-02), Scott DesJarlais (TN-04), Byron Donalds (FL-19), Russ Fulcher (ID-01), Andy Harris (MD-01), Troy Nehls (TX-22), Ralph Norman (SC-05), Andy Ogles TN-05, and Tom Tiffany (WI-07) released the following statement on the purported death of Russian anti-corruption and peaceful opposition leader – and hence, political prisoner – Alexei Navalny:

“If true, Alexei Navalny’s death is grievous and yet another sobering reminder of the dangers and oppression of totalitarian leaders and governments that will silence opposing thoughts and bar free speech at any cost. No matter where they occur, these atrocities must be resoundingly and unequivocally condemned. Mr. Navalny’s death is a conspicuous and significant blow to the worldwide pro-freedom and anti-tyranny fight.”
